Turnaround and cash flow

Where the money goes, when cash runs short and what to do first

A turnaround diagnostic is a fast financial review of a running business when cash is short, margins are falling or debts are growing. We find where the money goes, map the cash gaps over the coming months and draw up a prioritised list of first actions. Then comes a stabilisation plan and, if you wish, 90 days of financial control together with you.

Signs it is time for a diagnostic

In a small or mid-sized business a crisis rarely starts with a loss in the accounts. First, cash runs out before customers pay, supplier debt grows, revenue holds but the bank account is empty. If you wait for the annual accounts, the time for calm decisions is gone.

When to get in touch

  1. Revenue is growing or flat, yet there is less and less cash in the account.
  2. Suppliers, taxes and payroll are increasingly paid from a credit line or the owner’s own money.
  3. Margins are falling and it is unclear which products, customers or sites are responsible.
  4. The bank is asking for a plan and the figures are not at hand.
  5. Costs need cutting, but it is unclear what can go without hurting the business.

What you get

A financial diagnostic: where the business loses money — by product, customer, site and cost line.
A cash-gap map: when and by how much cash will run short if nothing changes.
A prioritised list of first actions: what to do this week, this month, this quarter.
A stabilisation plan with scenarios and, if you wish, 90 days of financial control together with you.

What the diagnostic covers

We look at the whole business, but with one aim — to find money and time for decisions.

  1. Accounts and management figures, bank statements, loans and debts.
  2. Margins by product, customer and site.
  3. Costs: fixed and variable, contracts with suppliers and landlords.
  4. Organisation and processes: who is responsible for what, where decisions stall or are duplicated.
  5. Strengths and weaknesses (SWOT) and strategy: where to keep growing and where to stop — as far as it affects cash.

What clients say

We came to Finetic Consulting for a business plan and financial model for our project IMSKIPPER.NET. We liked how quickly Vladislav prepares documents and how deeply he works them through. It is comfortable to work together: every question can be discussed at online meetings while the work is in progress.

What we do not do

  • We do not run the business for you: decisions and their implementation stay with the owner and the team.
  • We do not handle legal debt restructuring or insolvency proceedings (concurso de acreedores) — that needs an abogado.
  • We do not guarantee the outcome: it depends on how quickly and fully the plan is carried out. We are responsible for the plan resting on real figures.

Frequently asked questions

What is a turnaround diagnostic?

It is a fast financial review of a running business: where money is being lost, when and by how much cash will run short, and what to do first. The result is a map of the problems and a prioritised list of first actions, not a thick report.

How much does a turnaround diagnostic cost?

It depends on the size of the business, the volume of data and the package. We quote the price after the introductory call and a first look at the figures; the 15–30 minute introductory call itself is free.

How soon will I see first results?

Urgent findings — for example, the nearest cash gap — are reported as soon as we see them, without waiting for the final report.

What is a cash-flow review?

It is a cash forecast for the coming months and a map of the gaps: in which weeks cash will run short, by how much and why. The map comes with options for closing those gaps.

Do you work with businesses in Spain?

Yes, most of our clients are small and mid-sized businesses in Spain; we also work with companies in other EU countries. Documents and meetings are handled online.
